The only direct view, but it could be - or meant to be - this one at start of film which is a 2 |

The position of the headlights suggests that it’s a Bedford, rather than an Austin. |

Different truck from first post. It has what I think is a cut down integral van body with curved luton head over cab. It looks like it has military type large section tyres. I wonder if it is a Bedford ML ambulance with new body as looks the right size. Here is one with a woman who looks familiar Link to "www.flickr.com" -- Last edit: 2024-07-31 16:08:33 |

Is main a cut-down ex-AFS wartime fire truck or similar?? |

See where your coming from , maybe a modified one. They had normal civilian type wheels though which you would think would be unchanged. Main Photo is not the clearest but fairly sure it has wide military singles tyres. I wonder if it is an ex RAF van as they had many weird and wonderful vehicles. Cropped and enlarged makes for a confusing fuzzy image. Rad cap and headlight position plus bonnet M-type or K-type but not WLG. Double rear wheels would suit M-type, fronts look I suspect to confirm wartime military design, also not an AFS fire engine with normal tyres, or a Bedford ML Ambulance version of more common Austin K2 Ambulance because of double rears and longer wheelbase. Very rare Bedford ML wartime ambulance for future reference. 1939 Bedford M-type chassis scuttle ex-WWII, jcb's suggestion of ex-RAF looks most probable to me. -- Last edit: 2024-08-01 15:08:31 |
