I think it should be a FIAT 1100 derivative, because it looks similar to the 1100 GT Zagato MM, but I have not been able to find one that matches its characteristics. Those hidden headlights and double grille should be very characteristic... |

I've seen this before, probably in a book. But no idea what book, and I'm away from home and my pile of books so can't start digging. Another name to add for the make might (or might not) be Cisitalia. However my hunch is Fiat-ish ... |

I've made some searches but no result yet. As dsl, it reminds me something but what? Not a Cisitalia for sure. |

The grille (la calandre) looks quite similar to this Lancia's. However, the rest of the body doesn't fully match https://www.carrozzieri-italiani.com/listing/lancia-aprilia-meteor/#google_vignette |

To me it looks like a four seater version of either: - a Fiat 508 CS MM (Mille Miglia) https://www.flickr.com/photos/johnnybambury/5750863227/ or - a Fiat 1100 S MM https://www.fcaheritage.com/en-uk/heritage/stories/fiat-1100s . |

I went through a few dozen cars without finding anything that matches. I think it’s a kind of prototype ( metal body; few ornaments) maybe for the famous race of "1000 miles". The narrow aspect (mono or two-seater?) its left hand drive suggests a racing car on which one would have put a roof. The paper on the windshield also reminds a kind of pass (for a circuit?) but does not seem common to a series car => a proto of the FIAT 1100? Pinin Farina or Zagato who would have come to buy a plane ticket at TWA? mystery... The question is who made this body? What is intriguing is that we have the impression to see a car of 1947-48 according to its appearance, while the date of the film indicates 1958: an error? Note the intrigued look of people in the street... -- Last edit: 2024-06-09 19:28:42 |

I agree with Zodiac and Fred1969 it is a 2+2 coupe called Berlinetta and the streamliner was called Aerodinamica. The first time something like that existed was in 1938/39. Strangely enough, all the other vehicles are also pre-war. and people marvel at it as if it were the latest model and not a youngtimer 20 years old. Other possible makes are Stanguellini or Siata... |

From the shape, I think it is an early post-war prototype of Maseratti A6G 1500, probably bodied by Zagato (who had worked on the concept of panoramic cars with this very recognizable style.) I couldn’t find better and no image of this car ! https://www.carstyling.ru/en/car/1949_maserati_A6G_1500_panoramica/ https://coachbuild.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=360&start=40 -- Last edit: 2024-06-10 20:36:14 |

Nothing is matching in your suggestions ![]() It's real mystery. In the sequence the car is driven by a guy who just arrive and stop in front of the TWA agency. Indeed all people around seems to be surprised and intrigued. A Fiat 666 bus and Fiat 500A are passing by, then the camera changes to a front view. For sure the film is dated 1958 in the credit, but the pictures are certainly older footage of late 40s early 1950s. Constellation airplanes are from the first generation L-049. |

>Nothing is matching in your suggestions You have to say why T&WA changed its name in 1950 to TWA. We can see the logo on the office, so we can date the picture till 50's. Several details of the film clearly indicate the early 1950s in Rome. I think we are in the presence of a rare prototype of FIAT-Simca bodied by Deho. The grille design is typical and it reminded me Gordini. Lets's read here : Link to "www.lesrendezvousdelareine.com" "1938 - The Simca DEHO is a prototype (perhaps) designed by Geo Ham based on Simca 8. It inherits the modern 1100 cc engine of the Fiat Balilla and Simca 8, transfigured by the preparer Roger DEHO we can’t see it very well but the grille badge can remind us of Simca or Renault-Gordini ? I don't think it is a competition's model. Indeed, if you look carrefully you'll see this thin line under the car, that seems to be the exhaust. The set looks a lot like the FIAT 508 or the 18S. (a more powerful engine would certainly have a much bigger exhaust line)We would then have here a small gem ! -- Last edit: 2024-06-12 20:32:20 |

Perhaps. Nevertheless we didn't find yet a picture of the exact model. Then no certitude at this point. |

This is a Fiat 1100 chassis with a Lancia Aurelia 1500 engine bodied by Ala d'Oro in 1948 for italian driver Edoardo Coletti Perucca Sonio. In 1950 the chassis was modified again in order to make rook for 6 persons. It raced in the '48 Giro dell'Umbria. Registered in Rome. |

Here you can se the same car behind a Benedetti in the '48 Giro dell'Umbria. From the hi-res version of this picture, you can barely read a Rome license plate that matches with the info above. |
