This scene was the reenactment of the death of Ken Miles who was killed while test driving the Ford J-Type at Riverside International Raceway in the Edgemont area of Moreno Valley, California on the afternoon of the 17th August 1966.

According to an investigation into the accident, Miles was testing out the Ford J-Type with an experimental kammback fitted to the vehicle's breadvan rear section.

As the vehicle was heading towards the end of the track at the speeds of 200mph (320km/h), Miles lost control of the vehicle and flipping the vehicle, resulting in the vehicle to break apart and ejecting Miles, killing him instantly.

After the accident, Ford executives had ordered a roll cage similar to those installed in the NASCAR Grand National competition, to be installed in all future models of the vehicle.

The Ford J-Type was rebuilt and developed into the Ford GT40 Mk IV.

The GT40 Mk IV went onto to compete in the 1967 Sebring 12 Hours with British racing driver, Bruce McLaren and his American co-driver, Mario Andretti driving in the No. 1 for the Ford Motor Company and won the race with 238 laps completed.

The vehicle then went on to compete in the 1967 24 Hours at Le Mans with American racing driver, Dan Gurney and his co-driver, AJ Foyt driving in the No. 1 for the joint Ford Motor-Shelby-American race team and won the race with 388 laps completed.
