Based on the size of the badge, I think this is a 1975-1976 Ford Elite (it was only called the Gran Torino Elite for 1974). |

I always thought they were called Ford Torino Elite. |

It was Gran Torino Elite for 74 and 75. The Elite became it's own model in 1976. I think you're right about the fender badge - it's smaller size does suggest Elite only but it could only be a 76 model. |

Are you sure? My information very clearly says that it became just "Elite" for 1975, and this 1975 brochure never once mentions "Gran Torino": http://www.tocmp.com/brochures/Ford/1975/Elite/index.htm |

The car pictured above is fitted with 'turbine-spoke' cast aluminum wheels, which was a new option for 1976. Being a 76 model, this would have to be an Elite, so I was wrong when I referred to it as a Gran Torino Elite. However, according to the Standard Catalog of American Cars, the Elite was still considered a Gran Torino sub series in 1975. The Ford Chronicle by James Flamming has a picture of a 1975 model that has the 'Gran Torino Elite' logo on the front fender (page 240). |

To everyone concerned about the 1975 Ford elite, I\'ve been in this business for many years and I am impressed with people that buy Ford vehicles, many people for whatever reasons think that G.M has the better quality vehicles, this thought is simply untrue, the biggest of the three yes! the best No! Ford Motor Co took over the quality between the big three many years ago, and even today mantains to do so, but still many continue to spread unture information about this subject, without knowing how wrong they are, simply because they have\'nt or unwilling to do their homework and get the facts, when you over promise then under deliver, your customers will get angry and go to other sources for their products, this is bottom line fact, if you noticed Ford continued to sell their quality line of cars and trucks during those tuff times, The first and oldest Ford dealership in America is Tenvoorde Ford in St Cloud Minnesota, they could not keep enough vehicles on their lots during these tough times, Now! to correct the controversy over the Elite subject, for sure the only year the Elite was called the Grand Torino Elite was in 1974, in 1975 and 1974 they took on just the \"Elite\" name there were changes made on these two models, the ride is sweet compared to the 1974 and for good reasons, when I bought my 1975 Elite, I could not have been more satisfied, I got angry with Ford when they stop making it, and believe it or not I drove 8oo miles on 1 1/2 tanks of fuel when I drove from Detroit Mi. to Harrison Ark, having 8 witness to verify this ture story, and that\'s the simply truth! |

I apoligize for the error I made in my statement about the 1975 Ford Elite, the correct statement should have read, For sure the only year the Elite was called the Grand Torino Elite was in 1974, in 1975 and 1976 they took on just the "Elite" name. thanks for youe patience! |
