Dodge buses are classified as an S-Series, not a D

Only in NA. Export markets used the D-Series chassis. S-Series was NA only.

Unless of course this is in the United States/Canadian export bus.

We shall never know. Looks like an export model, or a former school bus as it has the warning lamps.

Thanks for the comment & heads up! But let get this straight tho. In Indonesia (and some other markets too based on the other comment provided), these Dodge buses uses the truck chassis (D-series) as a base, different than in the states I guess :)

You can read an article about these buses here (its in Bahasa, you can translate it through the website translator if you wanted to)

As seen in the article, these buses is based on D-500 (short wheelbase, many were used for city commuter uses) or D-600 (long wheelbase, this one is for interprovince services) chassis. Yes, indeed that the body works is the Superior Body Coach that originally came from the US, but it didn't came here as a whole unit or CBU/Completely Built Up. The body works were done locally (under license) by the Superior Coach branch in Indonesia, at that time its workshop located at Cawang, East Jakarta. :D

Dodge D-Series bus used by PPD (Indonesian statutory corporation that moves in the transportation sector) when its still at service. As far as I know these buses were decommissioned by the mid/late-80s, some even still operated in small numbers by the 90s.

Yes, as far as I know most of them is RHD. It'll be strange to operate a LHD format bus here, not to mention the door position problem! :D

@Steave - To the best of my knowledge, whether Dodge, International, Ford, etc.. use a truck frame as a basis for the bus upon which the body maker (for school buses) place their product

Ahh. I see... I think I misunderstood what you've said before. I thought that the S-Series you meant is a bus oriented chassis, a chassis that was solely purposed to be later built into a bus either by the company itself or various coachbuilders. I've seen the "Dodge S-Series" keyword input on IMCDB, mostly of them seen as bus variants. So, I came to a conclusion that the D-Series is a truck chassis that in fact isn't common in the US to be coachbuilt into a bus.

So, to make things clear, not only for me but for others who read these comments,

Can you care to explain according to your knowing what's the difference between the D-Series & S-Series chassis? Thanks in advance, @supcoach :)

While never studied on these, but I agree with some posts above, especially on those what supcoach said. As for the RHD mention by rjluna2, I'm not sure if there were indeed factory right-hand drive versions or possibly those were conversions.

This only applies to school buses here. Dodge made the D-Series Medium Duty (D-500) an S-Series. As to why, the simple answer is that S stands for school.

Chevrolet/GMC C-Series Medium (C-50/60) became B-Series (except when they had an exclusive arrangement with Blue Bird) - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet/GMC_B_series

Ford F-Series Medium Duty (F-600) also was called B-Series - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_B_series
