That's about as helpful as posting "1938-2003 Beetle". Renault had dozens of extremely similar models around this time, and this is probably no later than 1918 as it still uses large carbide headlamps. The post-WWI models were much lighter and had closed doors, disc wheels and Renault logos on the hood (first round, then rhombus-shaped) SE 407 issued in 1915. -- Last edit: 2024-01-07 17:57:37 |

That does narrow it down far more. |

I'd say a 1908-1909 Renault type AR, based on the shape of the body and a few details. It's hard to say because we don't know if these cars were modified for the film (the tires look pretty big to me), and at the time, Renault delivered bare chassis, offered the cars in different versions (long chassis, short chassis, etc.) and it was up to the owner to do the bodywork to suit his tastes! In short: a kit car ![]() help yourself here : http://voitures.renault.free.fr/ http://voitures.renault.free.fr/ |

Pointers as to model and year are a long bonnet from the earlier era suggesting a four cylinder rather than the later bigger six, curving rather than flat front mudguards and uplifter rear mudguards, no filler cap to bonnet, as well as the profile of the radiator, having a long wheelbase Roi des Belges body with extension to passenger compartment – all suggesting approximately 1910/11, … but there is something slightly odd about it.. |

Don't we have an image of a kit car with a fake pre-WW1 Renault 4-door convertible body somewhere on this site? |
