One that got away. 1961-64 Longbridge started developing a Mini-based roadster as ADO34 project with Pininfarina styling (so explaining its resemblance to a Peugeot 204 Cabrio) using the LWB chassis from a Mini Countryman and Vanden Plas sidelights. There was also an ADO35 coupe version and ADO36 as an Austin-Healey roadster. Abingdon also did some proposals, but nobody seems quite sure whether they were meant to join the Mini family or were proposals to replace Midget and Sprite, but the plug was pulled in 1964. This MG with a 66 plate is the only known survivor, and exhibited at Gaydon. As ever ARonline has the best account, with lots of pics of the various designs.
