The difference is that Blindness was filmed partly in Brazil (including this scene), and the story takes place in an unnamed fictional country (José Saramago insisted on this). Because of this, the film crew made fake plates that are similar to Brazilian plates but don't have state names, so that real Brazilian plates on cars in the background wouldn't stand out as wrong to the film audience. Christopher Nolan's Batman films use the same trick. Because the films were shot on location in Chicago, the plates look like real Illinois plates but have Gotham above the number instead of Illinois. -- Last edit: 2011-06-03 21:57:49 |
