When the Monkees show was finnished, Dean Jeffries was asked to buy it back for $1000, but he thought it was to much since he could build a new one cheaper.

He kept the molds for years. Bragged about still having them in the late 80s. Around the late 80s he threw away the panel between the trunk and top that was cut out to make the extra seats.

This one with yellow was not the one used in the show. I think this was the one that went on the show car circuit back then. The Monkees door logo was even different. The TV Show car did not have yellow on it and went to Australia during the 1968 Monkees tour. October or November of that year. It was left down there. Then the TV show car resurfaced in South America as a hotel courtesy car. Finally made it back to the states. I don't know if Dean Jeffries is still living. He was a stunt man and had broken his back at some point by the end of the 80s. Yes there were two made initially but in the last 10 years another car by Dick Dean made off a Lemans convertible opting for the yellow treatement again. The car in this picture has to be the one that went on the car show circuit in the late 60s and not the TV car. Although Im sure at some point since its made a few car shows. TV Show car had no yellow except for door decals. None of that yellow around the grilles.
