'ALE 165' from here in "To Have His Carcase"and "Strong Poison" both filmed in 1987. Confirmed by the coach-line and the extremely small scrolled ends to the roof rack.

sixteensix wrote The taxicab featured above is ALE 165, and is in fact a 1933 Austin 12/4 'High Lot' (High loader). It is believed that the body of this cab was built by 'Dobsons' I first came across this cab in the early 1960's when, like the Ricket's cab (The eye of the needle) it too was owned by Christopher Baker Duly, when it was painted yellow, and known affectionately as 'The Yellow Peril'. The current owner has a 'fleet' of pre-war taxicabs and makes a living through hiring them out to film and T/V companies. He does have a habit of changing the registration plates where several cabs are used - to give the impression that they are different cabs, so leaving out the 'E' on this one was not uncommon. - Look for him (and his cabs) on Poirot!
