The Belgrade Leyland consists of a Royal Tiger Worldmaster chassis and Metropolitan Cammel-Weymann body with 23 seats, provision for 77 standing, and two seats for driver and conductor. Entry/exit was through three doors on the near (right) side of the body. An emergency exit door was located on the left side. Lack of clutch pedals distinguished this model: the gearbox was semi-automatic, pneumocyclic with ‘hill holding’ function. Also the bus had emergency alert sounds indicating engine failures.

Nine buses were imported by sea to Rijeka in October 1961 and were subsequently transported to Belgrade in a day. After fixing chrome trim, traffic signals, and batteries, and cleaning the vehicles, they entered service on route 23 (from Trg Republike square to Karaburma) on 23rd October 1961. That line was selected as the best for deploying new vehicles. After an initial period, the vehicles were transferred to other routes. Leyland buses had dedicated routes, as shown by the route map displayed on the mechanism box for the middle door. All vehicles were in service by 1962.

During their fifteen years of operation these green buses became a Belgrade symbol, but withdrawal began in March 1975 and continued until June 1977. In that year the last seven buses were finally withdrawn. Replacements were Ikarus IK 4 buses and in this period some numbers were duplicated, as some of the buses received the numbers of Leylands still in service. The Leylands were scrapped at Ada Huja, and some were disposed of as scrap metal and survived as storehouses and workshops.

Restoration for the museum began at the end of 1989, and in February 1990 GSP Skoplje supplied anengine, gearbox and transmission. After the bus was completed and made a test drive in Dorcol depot, it was painted in the GSP body shop. The bus was fully restored to its original charm. This restoration was supported by many citizens and one of them was Dejan Bobar. He gave many small items which were collected over the years. Restoration continued until 14. October 1992, when. the bus became a part of the museum collection for the GSP Centennial celebration.
