It's a Lotus Elise California. There were 50 made (25 yellow and 25 red). It was a model made exclusively for the US market and included silver front grills, body color radiator exit and engine grills, two-tone leather, beige dash and a fully covered interior (leather and carpet) with no exposed aluminum like the standard Elise. They also had some parts-bin stuff like the rear spoiler from the supercharged Elise, and the "Y spoke" wheels which were more commonly found on the Exige back then. I own the car featured in the movie and drove it in that scene. It was filmed in March 2022 at the Marriott Marquis hotel in Atlanta. BTW - I'm not sure why the IMCDB database has the Elise as the Lotus type M117. It should be M111. The 117 is a Lotus 340R. -- Last edit: 2023-06-13 22:26:14 |

^ Thanks - nice info, and you're now identified as the owner. As for your type question - I'm not sure why. We have the 340R as type M111, so maybe back in the day we got them mixed up and they've just accumulated since?? As the 340R is an Elise derivative, it makes sense for Elise to be M111 and 340R as M117. So maybe they just need to be switched round by a block update correction?? Any comments from others before submitting the request? |

A few websites give 117 for the S2 models so that's probably why: https://www.lotusespritturbo.com/Lotus_Models_Part_2.htm http://www.hazelnet.org/elise/index.htm All of them including 340R seem to use 111 for the VIN numbers, which doesn't help? |

Useful - looks as if we've got it right for Elise S1 as M111 and Elise S2 (and derivatives) as M117. Some S2 refs are slightly ambiguous, but our system seems to work and we're used to it, so if it ain't broke ... But the 340R question is now a specific point to answer, and I'm now thinking it fits M111 "The 340R was based on the Extreme or Sprint show car, designed in 1996 by Julian Thomson, .... It was based on the Elise chassis and had the same 111 Type designation" from Sandie's first link. Plus as a 1999 launch (2nd link) it's still in the M111 era, despite anticipating some of the S2 restyling elements.. |
