Why spam the site with basic comments like "Ford" or "F-Series" as you often do, that provide little useful information and which Stevie Wonder could tell us? :p

In this case, I think that comment told us the year of the car?

1] It confirms the plate is real
2] It saves anyone else wasting energy trying to pursue plate info
3] As Sandie says it gives us the original date and an end date for its registration, so it's likely to be defunct now with no further trail to pursue. UNKNOWN UNKNOWN is a particular code one site uses to indicate dead registrations
4] Sometimes even crappy clues can give our detectives something they can use

@Sandie - Other people, besides myself, put in Ford or F-Series. And if it was SOOOO obvious no one would need to put it in :)

Yes, and it's just as annoying when you do it. Spilling out a general name or make for something that's has a dozen different generation over 60+ years is pretty useless to the admins. And it's incredibly lazy of the poster that posts it. If you don't know the year range or at least the generation, your comment is useless on these.

As I've pointed out before, things are left as unknown so the people that do provide more specific information will see them easier. Otherwise it will sit for years as the generically named "Ford F-Series".

Or it was exported (I hope so for such a lovely car...), as it was rarely flagged (never ?) in the British registration database in the 1970s and 1980s when they were just used cars. Like this one, for example, sold new in London in January 1961, and said to be exported in France in 1970, without any clue on its previous UK registration, unfortunately > Link to "www.auction.fr"

^ It doesn't have export marker according to the plate info above, but DVLA sometimes comes unstuck with this. On the info available, its fate after 87 is a blank - scrapped, banger-raced, exported without triggering a marker, sitting forgotten in a barn under a pile of junk, crashed beyond repair, or other unfortunate events. Probably not in a museum, as that should usually show differently.

933 HYU was another P5, but normal Park Ward.

I wonder if either or both were Barthropp rentals - "He used the handsome gratuity and part of an inheritance to buy a Bentley and a Rolls-Royce Phantom VI. Dressed in an expensive chauffeur's outfit he started to drive the well-heeled around Britain. Over the next few years his luxury car-hire business became very successful and he soon owned a fleet of Rolls-Royces. One of his cars featured in the James Bond film Casino Royale." from this profile of Patrick Peter Colum Barthropp, though the quote about a Phantom 6 is doubtful as he started the business soon after 1957.

Do we have any RREC members amongst the fraternity? Perhaps Robgeelen2 may know of its fate, sorry I can’t help beyond saying it’s not a Standard Steel Saloon!
