1956 290 MM Spyder Scaglietti Probably. Can't find the chassis from these pics but compared grille shape (not perfect match), side vent shape, small intake next to windscreen-co-drivers side (see thumb -only 290MM had this from what I've seen) with all period sports racers 290S/MM, 315/335S, 410S 250 TR's, 500 etc and 290 MM is best match. 4 290MM racecars were made and their known history doesn't really explain what we see here... maybe a very early development accident while still at Ferrari. Very surpricing material, I first thought this footage must have been from Sicily early in the season but now think it is post-season 1956. The car appears to be 290MM 0628 with wide windscreen conversion (as required for 1957) and a new narrow hood scoop. The car raced in Buenos Aires 1/57 looking quite like this, in Sebring 3/57 the fender scoop for oil cooling had already been moved to another location. Congrats for correctly identifying it as a 290MM. -- Last edit: 2022-12-18 11:04:12 |
