Did these imported Nissaustins have any changes from the original British vehicle? |

They weren't imported necessarily but rather locally built. Initially it was CKDs but they were never phased out in favor of A60s so Nissan kept building them on their own until they released the Bluebird and Cedric. |

As comment above, early ones were CKDs but the project was designed to increase the degree of local manufacture under the government-brokered licencing contract so that Nissan (and Isuzu with the Minx and Hino with Renault) would emerge with fully independent manufacturing capability for their own model lines. When CKD proportions were high, the models stuck close to UK templates, but when the phased reductions kicked in, they started adding Japanese elements such as extra trim and increasing the chrome jewellery. Towards the end both Nissan and Isuzu added unique estate versions, different from UK designs, and the last year of the Nissan A50 got a bigger rear window never seen in UK (which had moved on to the A55 Mk1 by then). So a fair bit of visual modification, but superficial - none of the mechanicals or structure changed from the source origin, apart from things like local glass, carburettors, tyres, brakes etc. I think this is one of the final big rear window examples. |
