don't know... we have this problem on ours for a few years now ( mine is way older than some of them and still clearly readable ) , maybe in other markets they have other issues.. Darn. Baube we can now check Canadian plates  Jetta told me about an app I use to pull USA vehicles and there is an option for Canada. Maybe you can try on your own vehicle to see if you can pull your own VIN?The app is called 'Orto'. |

do we need a cell phone for that ? if so i can't , i'm one of the few who still refuses to be zombified by that little device.. Sadly, I think app only. There is a website https://orto.website/ - not sure if your laptop allows you to download apps or if that feature if phone only? |

I'm willing to try but i have a question : how do they deal with a plate that was on multiple cars ? here you get the option to keep your plate or get a new one when you buy a car , my plate is currently on its 3rd car, will it give the actual one or all of them ? https://play.google.com/store/search?q=orto&c=apps i guess its for phones only, scanning a plate with a laptop might be more complicated...  i know people will look at me like i'm stepping down from a UFO but... you need a Google Play account or just the regular Google one is enough ? regular Google works but it says i have to have a cell phone connected to this account to install it.. sorry... -- Last edit: 2022-07-14 18:23:53 |

well... that does not look good at all for that app.... always says : " Pic too blurry , try to keep the camera steady " ( or something around that, i currently don't have the phone with me ) when we try to scan from a screen and entering the plate manually got me " Hold the brakes Bobby, we can't find that plate " ( once again, something around that ) i did not checked yet if a live pic would do it yet but it won't be helpful for us as we take screencaps ..... i think its pretty much a scam to access people's phones pics & videos ( it does ask you if you authorize the app to do so and you're screwed if you say no, the app just won't accept any pic no more ) I found one not long ago who was bragging about being able to get info on canadian plates too and like this one, it failed to find my plate... which i only have for 20 years now... maybe not entered in the system yet... maybe you or Jettalover will have better success but i highly doubt about that thing -- Last edit: 2022-07-15 17:26:31 |

just got a flash...maybe i have to enter manually a space between the numbers and lettters , i did entered the whole thing in a block, will try when i get my sister's phone dhill or Jettalover : does that thing at least works for US ones ? another " wonderful " flash... maybe it works on some other provinces plates, maybe Québec is just less prone than other provinces to give that info... i'll try manually on some other plates i have pics of ( or if you guys can enter them with cars from here , we never know... if it works on 2,3 provinces , its already better than none ) just remembered... i tried as guest.. maybe i have to register to have results but once again, its very doubtful.. -- Last edit: 2022-07-15 18:02:50 |

I don't believe you need a space. I think I just enter the full plate. I can try on my own plate later when I leave work. |

currently have the phone, tried with a space and i still have to " Pump the brakes Ricky Bobby , we couldn't find that vehicle, sorry " .. hopefully after a few unsuccessful tries they don't make you open a Chevelle's door that has a cougar inside...
