Looks a bit like a Ghia design, similar to Ferrari 340 America, but not fully sure.

Edit: on second thoughts, there is a bit of Ghia theme going on in this movie, so Ghia-bodied 340 America thoery might be ok.. unless there were other extremely similar cars with this specific front & grille

4x 340 America Ghia's. At the time of the movie 2 were in..America one in UK, one in France (if histories are correct). Agree about Ghia but could be something else?

Fiat 1400 Viotti Link to "img.hmn.com" maybe?

Or at the high end of the scale, Ferrari 212 (Inter/Europa) coupe? This example has the same intake slot above the grille: Link to "www.classicdriver.com"

Was thinking 212 as well. Maybe the following Ghia, possibly based in Italy at the time. That Viotti seems to fit but haven't found other pics of it, smells a one-off. Haven't researched other makes to be honest.

or this, with the slight opening on top of the grille, like your example http://www.barchetta.cc/english/All.Ferraris/Detail/0185EL.212Inter.htm

Agree with 212 Inter as well. Fiat 1400 by Viotti looks close, but the bonnet on the subject car is noticeably longer and the car seems to be lower, judging by the gap between fenders and the wheel. Plus that small intake above the grille is very characteristic.

Also it might be the same car which appeared in the movie ´Febbre di vivere´ (also in the showroom somewhere in Rome) just a year prior.

The rear (merged) :

chammo wrote It is a Ghia 2+2 Saloon. Ghia tail lights, "moustache" over register plate and small nuances at the end of rear bumper - it's all there!

Five cars were built, four remain. Car in the film is 0199EL delivered new to Giuseppe Santi & C. The opening scene of Febbre di Vivere was filmed at Santi's (61 via Pinciana, Rome).

993cc wrote Year is 1952. In this film colour is close enough in the two scenes. Febbre di Vivere car may look a different colour but colour changes were not unusual for these limited edition cars -sometimes straight after they left the factory!
