I think this is a long wheelbase, but it's kinda hard to see. It would be a 740iL then if it is one. |

Neptune, Just because this vehicle has the "black-out trim" which is really called shadowline trim does not determine whether or not this is a long wheel base 740. The shadowline trim was only available on sport package vehicles in 1999-2001. Only the 1999 and 2000 model 740i's had the sport package available as an option. In 2001 the sport package was then later introduced to the long wheel version of the 740. The car pictured here is a 2001 BMW 740i equipped with the sport package which again features the shadowline trim, 18 inch staggered wheels, a more agressive sport oriented suspension set up, and SEDC. There may be a few more options I did not list but those are the main differences between the standard 740. I can tell that this is a 740i because the rear doors are a-lot shorter than the front passanger doors. The long wheel base 740's rear passanger doors are a few inches longer than the front passanger doors to allow easier access for rear seat occupants. |
