dsl wrote There's a very slight chance the Cortina is a better one - it's either a 2-door Super which has been given Rostyles or ... (cue drumroll) .... one of the 30 or thereabouts RHD Cortina 1600E 2-doors which "accidentally happened". It's not a GT as no shield on rear wing, and not a Lotus for same reason. Only 7 plates are known for these 30 or so UK cars, but if plate has M as middle letter, at least 4 of the UK 1600E 2 doors had CML plates (London, listed as Home Delivery Export Scheme, which is one of those odd series which doesn't always do what it says) - 30H (colour unknown), 238H (aubergine), 620H (colour unknown), and 627H (Fern green, later repainted black), and there may be further (unrecorded) CML examples. A Super with Rostyles is far more likely, but you never know ..... (info from here).

JCB wrote I thought about giving Cortina a page as 2 doors are a bit rarer, now I will.

Also noted that the 69-70 Super rear panel was body colour within the trim outline - the black fill was only applied to the GT, 1600E and Lotus. So although it's a very long shot, I'm tentatively nominating this as a UK 1600E 2-door, possibly one of the CML plated sequence. Glass's lists CML as Aug-Dec 69, but plate checks for 238H and 627H both give April 70.
