As British as any Hillman Minx Magnificent can be!
1938/9 facelift model.

But ignore the thumb, that’s an Austin 8.

Forgive me, John, I am not an expert of pre-WW2 cars, but I am often able to recognize the origins.

No.

Most of the prewar cheap British cars weren’t too good looking as saloons, imo Hillman and Vauxhalls were particularly uninspiring. The Austins looked like squashed American cars, and the late 30s Fords were also blessed with rather American style, which did not suit smaller cars. The Special Coupé Morris and the MG models were quite smart, but their four door saloons were forgettable. Probably the nicest designs were on Rileys and the SS Jaguars.

You don’t need to apologise to me about not knowing prewar cars, don’t forget, the roads of Britain were full of them until about 1962, when the ten year test (now three years) wiped out a lot of worn out junk.

I’ve looked again at thumb2, not sure what it is, but it might be the Minx again.

Must put more water in my Scotch.
