I have been, yes... Sorry for terrible pun, but I couldn't help it. As this was filmed at National Motor Museum at Beaulieu, it is most likely this 1928 Bean: https://nationalmotormuseum.org.uk/vehicle-collection/bean-short-14/ Was 'Short 14' the official model designation? |

I identified the car from what I could see, not from any information about where it might have been or other things, which I didn't have. The amount that was visible was pretty risible, but fortunately I could identify the rampant lion badge and made the first approximation entirely from memory. My first sighting of a Bean Fourteen was in 1953 in Marazion in Cornwall when some other guests at the place we stayed arrived in one. It was a bit different from my dad's traction avant Citroen. I have checked four independent and different sources (all books) about the cars made by Bean, and can find no mention of the Short Fourteen in them. Further checking on the interweb has produced this, http://beancarclub.org.uk/Short-Bean-Car-History/ which indicates that the Short Fourteen was, indeed, an official nomenclature also referred to as Model 6. -- Last edit: 2020-11-13 17:50:30 |
