Also seen in this film, possibly film unit car - /vehicle_71683-Ford-WOC1-1939.html These are as rare as hens teeth, most went to France in 1939 / 40 with the BEF , when we fled back to our island from the Dunkirk beaches in anything that could float (whilst the French army held the perimeter) we left them behind along with 60,000 other trucks. The German army ( mainly using horse drawn transport despite the super mechanised myth) found all these trucks very useful ( especially in the invasion of Russia ) as their domestic truck industry could not even keep pace with accident losses never mind replacing horses. Meanwhile in order for us to continue the war the Canadians provide us with hundreds of thousands of CMP trucks without which we could not have fought the Desert Campaigns. Anyway back to WOC1 's after Dunkirk no more were ordered so the only survivors were the few left in base depots in Britain and I believe there is only one in preservation. ![]() ![]() -- Last edit: 2020-08-24 08:20:04 |
