Agree looks like S3 with that wide rear. Looking at the engine choices http://www.historiclotusregister.co.uk/theCars.php I understand that all S3 cars as this one can be considered "Super"(?) The engines available on the S3's "..Either Ford 2255E, Ford-Holbay crossflow, or Lotus twin-cam." -all higher power 1.6 lt would make a "plain" S2 Seven into an S2 Super Seven I think. Curiously no mention of "Super" on this site. Wiki mentions S2 Super Seven but not S3 Super Seven. Imcdb current list is mixed on S3's, has both plain and Super. -- Last edit: 2022-08-11 15:03:02 |

Seven vs Super Seven seems a matter of which engine was used, which was constantly changing during evolution, and is therefore a bit flexible. According to a couple of general UK sports car reference books on my shelf, there wasn't really a Super Seven S3, as they almost all used Ford 1599cc. However there were a very few (13?) Seven Super Sport with the Lotus 1558cc. But lots of folk call S3 Super Seven by default. |
