It's an interesting one, with a mix of bits to suggest it had money spent on it. The side flash suggests an Alexander Engineering tuning conversion of some sort - they did all sorts of choices from mild to wild, road and race upgrades. There's a very nice elderly Exem model of an Alexander Sprite (also available in red and dark blue schemes) with the flash, plus this recent auction listing. Alexander also did hardtops with a couple of well-known racers, but this looks normal bonnet not one of their streamliners. Looking at the small available selection of Alexander hardtop photos, they don't look quite like this one which is very Ashley-like as suggested. So I reckon an Alexander tuned Frogeye with Ashley top is likely. |
