Note:- At the end of this chase scene between this aston & "gambits" Jaguar xjs ....the Aston...mysteriously changes into an ...Audi 100 coupe.!! (..I believe they must have had mechanical problems with the aston,an needed a replacement car....could not find another one...& stuck a similar colour Audi...in it's place.!!) |

This is a much older DBS than the registration suggests - the twin headlight car was discontinued in 1971 for the 1972 model year when the more recognisable single headlight front end was introduced. There's nothing obvious to identify this as a Vantage model either as externally the two models were identical. Engine wise, this car could be a 6 cylinder DBS or a later V8, though I suspect that judging by its dodgy (Jaguar Primrose) paint job and down at heel appearance, it's an early DBS6 from the late 60's and probably a 'G' or an 'H' plate car, certainly no later than a 'J'. -- Last edit: 2007-01-13 14:56:30 |

Gareth Hunt, who portrayed "Mike Gambit" in THE NEW AVENGERS, passed away March 14th, 2007 (three days ago). He did good work, not overshadowing Steed in that series. |

As Marsh states above, despite the 1975/76 registration, this is an early 1967-70 Mk1 DBS with a straight six engine and quadraple headlights. Furthermore it is an early pre1971 model. You can tell by: 1) Vents present on the rear D pillar (for the 1970 model year, known by AML as the DBS MKII, the vents were moved from the rear pillar to beneath the rear screen as it shared the same bodyshell as the DBS V8. (There were also other minor detail changes, such as the deletion of the 'teak' inset on the dash binnacle etc). 2) Wire wheels, only available on the straight six car and not the V8 (as the engine was deemed to be too powerful for flimsy wire wheels) NOTE: The DBS and DBS Vantage are almost identical and have the straight six engine. The only difference is the badge, plus the Vantage had extra BHP as it was supplied with Weber carbs, where as the standard DBS had triple SU carbs (and runs a whole lot better)! As this car doesn't have the Vantage badge on the front side vents or rear, its likley to be a standard DBS. By 1975/76 P reg only the Aston Martin V8 saloon was available with the re-designed twin headlight front and V8 engine. Although confusingly, a model known as the "Aston Martin Vantage" was also produced as a 'budget model' for a few years from 1973 onwards, with the same bodyshell as the V8 (ie twin headlights and trad AM stylised front grille) but the same straight six engine (and wire wheels) as the 1970 DBS. |

Yes it was very sad. He was very handsome man. Later on Shakespearean actor Timothy Dalton who took over James Bond from Roger Moore in 1987 has look like of him. Now Patrick MacNee is now gone last year after his friend Christopher Lee who also Ian Fleming cousin & ex Bond villain. |

It is a 6 cylinder. Like James Bond On Her Majesty Secret service which Diana Rigg starred as Mrs Bond in end where she got killed by Blofield |
