“CUU reversed” County Council of London June 1961 to June 1962. Although this grille appeared on the Anglia 100E in the October 1957 facelift, the introduction of the Anglia 105E in late 1959 meant that the basic 100E became known as the Popular. The 103E perpendicular Popular was discontinued at this time. The basic Popular 100E cost £494, the deluxe, with, inter alia, opening quarter lights (!) £515. The Popular 100E was discontinued in June 1962. At the same time as the Anglia 100E became the Popular the four door version of the body was fitted with the 997cc ohv engine and four speed gearbox from the new Anglia, plus deluxe trim, and christened the Prefect 107E. (£622). /vehicle_848580-Ford-Popular-100E-1959.html The name “Popular” had been used by Ford on models since 1932, (at least), and continued for many years and many different cars and vans, but latterly as a subsidiary nomenclature. Therefore, should this example match the date suggested by its numberplate, it is a Popular 100E. -- Last edit: 2020-02-14 18:20:56 |
