It has an "I" - for plates in this style an "I" was only available for a very few months, when this system was started in 1956. So if you find nowadays a German plate in this DIN-style with an "I", it must be from 1956 - and unbelievable rare. Such an "I-plate" from 1956 was shortly sold at eBay - for 355 Euro. By the way: last weekend on the big "Veterama"-oldtimer-market a friend of mine has found such a plate - for 20 Euro. Then I had to take care of him, that he don't start to be hysterical. I was not evying him, I got my "I"-plate some years ago. But for 2,50 DM (1,25 Euro)
