This truck could've had any number of Mopar V8s available in '72, I seriously doubt it would've had the Slant 6, As that engine was built for economy rather than power & speed, It could've had the 318 small block with either a 2 or 4 barrel carb, It couldn'tve had the 360 small block because that engine didn't come out until '74, It could've also had the 400 big block with a 2 or 4 barrel carb or it could've had the 440 big block with a 4 barrel carb. |

In this movie "The Steel Inferno" squad 110 has more screentime than 51 !!! As I understand this made for TV movies were intended to serve as pilot for Spin off but with different cast !! perhaps the WardLaFrance is also 51 rebranded as 110 /vehicle_568806-Ward-LaFrance-P80-Ambassador.html ![]() -- Last edit: 2013-01-27 20:23:13 |

The Squad 51 that appears at the top of this page is a 1970 Dodge D300 on loan from the LA County Fire Department. The studio built vehicle wasn’t ready for filming until later into Season 1. The Squad that presently resides in the LA County Fire Museum is, according to the V.I.N. on the dash of it’s cab, is a 1974 Dodge D300 1 & 1/2 ton cab and chassis with duals. Obviously there were three, possibly four Dodge trucks used as Squad 51 during the show’s run. |
◊ 2022-02-04 18:51 |
Incorrect. The VIN from the museum truck is for a 1974 Dodge D300. This later truck was the Squad 51 in the series, but it wasn’t either of the two Squads that appeared in season #1. |
