Nor is the car a Hillman Imp. It's a Sunbeam Imp Sport. |

The bike could be a Phillips Gadabout Mk.IV PM2 from the time when it was a rebadged Mótobecane Mobylette (1962), but the Phillips should be red coloured. Therefore it could be an original Mobylette AV79 like this one: http://motobecane.free.fr/mobylettes.php?07 Was it available in Britain? Who knows more about these bikes? --- John, the car actually is a Hillman. See here: /vehicle_112887-Hillman-Imp-1965.html Is it modified in any way that makes it look more like a Sunbeam from the rear? |

The engine cover has in it louvres which were not present on the Imp, to assist the cooling of the higher output engine which had twin carbs and a high lift cam to squeeze 51bhp out of 875cc. I should have spotted the C-registration as suspicious because the Sunbeam wasn't available until 1966 (D-reg). You can't rely on anybody! However, the registration number of the car is a Coventry series, so it could have been a pre-production mule for the Imp Sport lent to the film company to give it a good thrashing. -- Last edit: 2008-01-21 19:44:45 |
