The 1200 ended in 1966, in 67, VW do Brasil introduced 1300 and 1500, and in 69 introduced the door mirror you will find in the photo. 1200 door mirror were installed in door hinges. Some references from movies made years after real action happened are somewhat falses, because cars come from collectors and producers are not worried about. Look the headlamps, you find sealed-beams where production cars came with bulb and glass headlamps. The car shows an accessorie, but Police Cars were always standart. The same is valid for the quarter vent; you will find a chromed strip with a hinged steel strap. This was a thief-lock, when you close the cars, you insert the steel strap in the window channel and then wind-up the door glass. The thief would find another way to take your car.
