I don't think there was ever a car called Austin Six, but there were lots of late 30s Austins of various numbers/types which had Austin Six grille badges. BG 6337 was Birkenhead 1938, and I think this is an 18/6 or even the longer 28 hp, both introduced Aug 38 with Ranelagh limo-style bodywork. Only 290 made of 28 hp compared to 1953 of 18/6, but book pictures suggest this is long enough for a 28.

This also leaves us with a batch of seven Austin "Six"es which should be re-ID'd - the first seven in this list. I'm not brave enough .....

Good spot. The tell-tale is that on the 28h.p., there is a noticeable gap between the lower trailing edge of the rear door and the rear wing. On the shorter chassis, there is not.
