Could it be that new cars are popular in French films? I've seen many times how cars carry plates from the year of filming or the year before that: /vehicle.php?id=149250 /vehicle.php?id=233302 /vehicle.php?id=150373 |

It's more like the director or the producer knows someone at Renault, Peugeot or at an importer, and said someone is happy to oblige with a new car, because it's publicity for the brand. In the end credits of french films, you'll often see mentions like "The production wishes to thank La Régie Renault, or Automobiles Peugeot, or Mercedes-Benz France, or Sonauto-Mitsubischi (yes, with a spelling mistake !), and so on. I's basically product placement, and it's nothing new. See the brand new Ford Mustang in the first "Le Gendarme" film : /vehicle_9046-Ford-Mustang-Pre-production-1965.html And if the production doesn't know anyone in the car business, or wishes for the main character to have an older car, it leads to another stereotype for french films or TV series : the old Volvo station-wagon. Especially in arthouse films. -- Last edit: 2018-05-27 23:05:20 |
