RXJ625J is a 1971 Range Rover... Did they put a Discovery front on it or plate moved into a Range? |

Can't decide from this view. Plate info seems straightforward - a 1971 Range Rover last recorded in 2013 after 156,000 miles, so had a long and successful life before becoming SORN. The number RXJ 625J does not seem to have any obvious significance for a cherished plate transfer, although there might be a private sentimental connection. No idea if transplanting a Disco front (grille, bonnet, maybe wings as well??) is an easy task, or why someone would want to do it, unless it gives an easier way of incorporating the winch seen here. Not sure if these wings match Range or Disco - Disco had thicker arch lips, but other horizontal body lines were similar. I guess we're probably stuck with following the plate data, which seems perfectly consistent for a long-lived Range Rover, which became a bodged-up special late in its life?? |

A competition vehicle that's been modified extensively, chances are the front end is entirely glassfibre, the chassis will have been shortened etc etc, doubtful if any original parts from RXJ remain apart from the chassis plate. |

^ Agree entirely the chassis probably started as Range Rover. For 'Vehicle used a lot by a main character or for a long time' are there not a lot of other screen caps possible? |

If my memory is correct, working on later P38A Range Rovers, I think the original Disco was the same chassis and bulkhead/windscreen as the first Range Rover? pictures from youtube screen grabs. Shortened Range Rover chassis with various chopped Discovery body parts (reproduced in g-fibre or modified) added to make a competition vehicle as the sad biker mentionad? |
