The bus was new to Smith's of Shennington, the owners of the brand Your Bus in November 1988, picture dated September 1989. .........I was just discussing this bus the other day with someone who had recently driven it. These are an unusual combination of TL11 218 engine and pneumocyclic gearboxes, never common on Tigers, apart from a batch of Plaxton Derwents presumably built for dealer stock in 1988 as some ran for other operators." - https://www.flickr.com/photos/geoffsimages/15477370001 "JJ Travel-McNairn of Coatbridge Plaxton Derwent bodied Leyland Tiger F336RWK alongside Dennis Super Pointer Dart V172EFS in the yard at Coatbridge depot. Plaxton Derwent 3000 bodywork, to be pedantic - the earlier Derwent was a completely unrelated design. I gather that this bus was one of eight to move north of the border in 1998 when acquired by Marbill of Beith. It was purchased by Whitelaws of Stonehouse in 2010 along with sister F335 RWK, and could usually be found on the run from its home village to Larkhall Academy. Five years later, the pair passed to McNairn's, with whom 336 is seen here. 335 was stripped of parts to keep 336 roadworthy, and I believe the latter is still on the road. I would see the pair often when Whitelaws owned them and didn't know one had starred in this until now! -- Last edit: 2017-12-22 02:29:05 |
