Japanese SD1 story is strange. Apparently they didn't get them until late 79 and were 3500 only. And were only sold with LHD. Plans for a 1980 shipment with RHD were dropped, and the remaining 1979 LHDs were cleared out by 1981 and no further SD1s sold there. None of which explains how an SD1 appears in a 1977 Japanese film. |

Probably a gray import specimen that came here before they were officially sold... Just like how US-Spec FJ cruisers were brought over for a few years by importers before Toyota decided to release J-Spec versions as well. |
