CougarTim ◊ 2009-10-08 08:44	1974-1976, to be specific. There should be a Mercury badge above the drivers-side headlights that appears to have been removed, and the hood ornament is turned sideways.

I remember back during the gas crisis of the mid 1970's, that some people would turn their hood ornaments sideways like that to reduce wind drag. (Probably saved all of 2 ounces of gas a year!) BTW, if we could see the front bumper of the Cougar in the photo, the year 1974 could be isolated, as that year's car used a solid bumper, while the '75 and '76 models had slots.
