Very rare and fairly mysterious transition model made Oct 67 to March 68 only - Mk2 body with chopped fins (though not visible here) and wing indicators (as visible) but with 1098cc instead of the usual 1275cc in VdP Mk2. I've seen a few vague estimates that only 200-300 made, plus one book reference which confidently says 1,753 made until Sept 68 (but may include the parallel and very strangely named Vanden Plas Princess 1100 1275 which was an 1100 with optional 1275cc upgrade available since June 67 in last months of Mk1 production). The proper VdP 1300 was not fully launched until Oct 68, and these 67-68 transition ADO16s (also similar for MG and Riley) are very messy.

New info: another source says only 47 VdP 1100s were made in 1968 - 26 for UK, 21 for export - so this is a rare beast. xEY series was local plate.

Or a third account from the VdP Owners Club "The Mark II Vanden Plas Princess 1100 was introduced in September 1967. The main differences externally to the Mark I were the cropped rear tail fins, flatter rear light clusters and the use of ventilated wheels and front wing side repeater flashers. Internally the seats were redesigned with leather now only used for the central wearing surfaces with Ambla used for the side squabs. A single central front seat armrest was fitted in place of the Mark I's armrest on each seat. The front door armrest pockets were deleted but were replaced by front seat back pockets fitted below the picnic tables. The glovebox lid and picnic table handles were redesigned and repositioned for safety reasons. There were no mechanical changes. The Mark II Princess 1100 lasted only until June 1968. Just 606 were produced of which 163 were automatics."

And for the record, their description of the Vanden Plas Princess 1275 is worth capturing as it has far more detail than any other account I've seen - "From April to September 1967 the Vanden Plas Princess 1100 Mark I was offered with the option of the 'A' series 1275cc engine fitted with a single S.U. HS4 carburettor. This raised power by 3bhp to 58bhp at 5250rpm giving a top speed of 88mph. There was no automatic transmission option. The car was known and badged as the Vanden Plas Princess 1275. Apart from the '1275' boot badge there was no difference externally or internally to the Princess 1100 Mark I. Only 825 Princess 1275s were manufactured before the Vanden Plas Princess 1300 with its Mark II body, was introduced in October 1967."
