I'd go for 1959 Zephyr, possibly in poverty Government issue plain trim.

This is actually a Consul, rather than a Zephyr. https://myntransportblog.files.wordpress.com/2015/06/1960-ford-consul-204e-lowline-rear.jpg Please have a look on the rear lights.

(The 1959+ Zephyr look like this https://www.car.info/en-se/ident/704793/spots (My car))

I must have forgotten to switch my brain on that day .... Your Zephyr looks spectacular - a good colour (Dragoon red? Venetian red? or similar??) which often suits UK Fords particularly well.

@dsl:

Thank you, although it's not an original colour, but a Volvo colour (colour code 46) http://volvo1800pictures.com/from_year_to_year/colour.php . I believe it was possibly originally painted in Dover White (colour code Y) http://www.enfostuff.com/color-samples/1958-61-english-ford-colors.html which I once saw when I changed the rubber to the front and rear windscreens, but it cannot have had that colour for a long time. During the early 70's it was painted in silver with a black roof and after an intended restoration it was supposed to have been painted in a dark original red colour with cream under the side strip, but ended up like this.

It actually looks much better than it is. Or to be correct it's beginning to be in working order after I have made evering work as it should have when I bought it. That is that I bought a restored car, although the person that made the restoration wasn't a car mechanic but a carpenter, which makes some difference.
The reason why I know a few things about these cars is that I've almost dealt with all matters that can go wrong, not that easy when parts are rather difficult to find and many things were incorrectly fitted or missing.
Things I've dealt with include, but is not limited to, complete overhaul of the breaks (where some parts were missing, which also includes the hydraulic side of the clutch), making the electical system work (both the ignition side and wiring), sorting the oil system, and steering, making the doors being possible to lock, changing the fuel tank, complete rebuild and changing of the tow hook and rebuild of the exhaust system.

There's a Swedish expression that says that FORD means "Fordrar Omedelbara Reparationer Dagligen" which in English translation would be something like 'Requires Immediately Daily Repair', or "Fyra Omfattande Reparationer Dagligen" which would be 'Four Extensive Repairs Daily'. There have been some truth to it.
