![]() Plate looks like FKT 171 = 1939; FKY was 1949 so too late for film. Or if FXT or FXY, both were also 1939. |

The thumb is an Austin 12 or 16, the more I look at the subject car the more I think Rootescrap, but the normal Super Snipe of that period didn't have a split rear bumper or a bottom hinged boot lid. |

In case these help![]() ![]() ![]() I was looking at Rootes-jewels as well, but getting stuck. Bottom hinged boot lid seems OK for some 1939 Humbers but split bumper and this flatter shape of extended boot with corners (compared to usual 1940+ bigger rounded bulge) problematic. It's got a role for a posh family and is chauffeur driven - passengers get out of back door when servant comes out of house and opens it. My guesses are (a) not a Rootes-jewel despite similarities (b) a 1939-40 only boot format which so far has eluded our searches or (c) as a long shot a conversion/accessory boot extension of unknown origin. Might not be a split bumper, just a relocated plate to enable driving with boot open to carry extra luggage as a touring kit or similar. |

The pillar-less rear door applied to the Sports Saloon; the Saloon being a conventional six-light body.![]() Divided rear glass visible in the interior view. From here Link to "picclick.co.uk" and http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/sunbeam-talbot.htm look convincing to me in the absence of a rear view. -- Last edit: 2017-08-23 17:57:13 |

The bootlid handle seems the same, or similar, and there is a clincher for me, the position of the petrol filler. Therefore, I suggest 1939 Sunbeam Talbot 3 litre Saloon. -- Last edit: 2017-08-23 18:32:01 |
