Not an Acura Integra???(recall that Brand debuts on US market around 1986 such a car like that with concealed headlights--a nose inspired by the sporty Prelude EX) |

So newer car for the year of the movie, and was crashed. This is really a high budget movie |

'86-'89 Honda Accords came with pop-up headlights in the US. They had composite lights in Europe. |

Product placement, perhaps. |

Do film studios ever buy a brand new car at full price to use in a movie? I think they usually rent them, or they make a product placement deal with the company and get supplied cars for free. |

Paul Verhoeven decided the then very new Ford Taurus would be the police car used by Robocop. Ford refused to sponsor the film, so the production had to buy all the Tauruses used in the film and modify them. -- Last edit: 2007-11-09 13:16:23 |

Ugly and old are not synonimes Enho, otherwise there would not be any car collectors and the world's roads would be full of Jap and Corean bullshit.. ![]() -- Last edit: 2009-03-28 09:29:45 |

I drove one of these in high school, back in the mid-late 90s. In those days,I would see 3-4 of them a day but most had already started rusting pretty badly. Now I see maybe 3 a month. The engines tended to outlast the bodies. The exact opposite is the case with the Cadillacs from this period.1980s Cadillacs never rusted much but the engines typically went out prematurely. |

Historically, that is pretty much par for the course with Japanese cars. Mechanicals are bullet-proof but the bodies rot badly. |

My mother had an '88 that was brand new. My brothers and I borrowed it when our cars weren't working. One night I swerved around a falling tree with it during a rainstorm, and on another occasion, my brothers borrowed it and some kids shot out the back windows with a BB gun for kicks. Sometime last fall, I saw one at a gas station which was the same color as hers. It had a few add-ons that she didn't have though. -- Last edit: 2012-02-13 18:25:43 |

My Uncle had this same car, but it was gray. I remember it being a manual and he used to drive me around in it when I was a little kid. I don't remember the lights being pop-up, though. E did say it was an '86, so they must've been without me remembering. |
