Subaru it is, air cleaner location is a give-away for the rare flat four & FWD-layout only used by Lancia and Subaru. Bonnet inside is 100% Subaru, A-posti is a match so yes: 1st generation Subaru Leone from early 1970s for sure. |

If you are going to make sweeping statements like that, at least check first. Citroen, and Alfa Romeo, come instantly to mind. |

It still is a Subaru, like it or not. |

Subarus are not generally on my radar, but the images compare well for windscreen, inner bonnet ribs, spare wheel and air cleaner here... ![]() Positive result when compared with a picked-at-random under bonnet image of a Subaru 1400 1973 |

Fine, the point is that your statement was incorrect, both the Alfasud and the Citroën GS and GSA had 4 cylinder boxer engines and front wheel drive, so that system is not exclusive to Lancia and Subaru. There were also the Cemsa-Caproni cars, from which the Lancia design emerged, and the Dolo JB-10 of which very few were built. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CEMSA https://www.carfolio.com/dolo-jb-10-374660 -- Last edit: 2020-12-12 22:30:19 |

Hmmm... the Cemsa-Caproni... Sweet memories! Too bad they skipped that 3-cylinder radial engine shown in that Antonio Fessia concept in Turin in the late 1940s. |
