The first R17 rover 800 appears early in season 9 episode 36. The car appears as a green unmarked flying squad vehicle.![]() I believe the first marked police version appears in the episode Night Beat Season 11 ep 105, this one's an ARV. ![]() Both pictures aren't the best quality. -- Last edit: 2021-07-01 09:09:27 (Baube) |

Hi racerfan, i edited your post in order to resize the pics as they were too big for the " all comments " page . You can use the " store pictures on the site " link ( and make sure the automatic resize box is checked , which will turn them into a clickable thumbnail ) if you have more pics to post eventually ![]() i might be wrong but i think the marked police car is a Ford ( Sierra ? ) -- Last edit: 2021-07-01 09:15:11 |

Hey, Baube thank you for that, didn't know about the store picture function, thank you for pointing that out. As for the rover, there is one behind the sierra, but I should've got more pictures, where there is more light in the particular scene. ![]() side shot of the car ![]() |

Wow I didn't know that but I will look into it, they used a 1991 827, in the earlier series, /vehicle_1378687-Rover-827-XX-1991.html |

I don't think so - MOT expired on 7 March 2009. No trace on DVLA main site, which would flag up SORN if it was stashed away somewhere. |

After police use would they sell them to the pubic or scrap them? |

There are police vehicle auctions (and other emergency/utility vehicle disposals). No doubt some of our police/emergency sightings in films/TV have been bought by sourcing agents to carry on their life onscreen. There is also a school of thought within the Bangernomics fraternity (= the art of buying an old cheap thing and keeping it going for minimal cost) that ex-police cars are excellent opportunities - they'll be cheap, possibly fairly high mileage and might have strange poverty spec with a very limited colour choice, but will have been maintained to a very high standard in service and will have the best spec for rugged oily bits. |

i don't know for that fraternity but here ex-police cars bought at auctions by civilians ( and probably movie cars rental companies ) is a common thing too, i've already seen a bunch ( including a grey 2012+ Charger today , even had a push bar on ) another one seen a few times is Link to "www.flickr.com" -- Last edit: 2022-03-21 04:38:59 |
