DVLA record: But 797 CUY was the subject of a Corgi model, so this might be an imposter. https://www.flickr.com/photos/zacks_classic_cars/15585868915 -- Last edit: 2019-08-21 13:24:20 |

797 CUY is a well-known Minor Million - "The Morris Minor was the first British car to sell a million units and BMC created a special edition – a common event now, but a rarity in the 1960s. So the Minor Million was created. Mechanically a standard 948 Minor 1000 these 350 cars were distinguished by vivid lilac paint, wheel embellishers, special 1000000 badges on the bonnet and boot lid, and white leather seats with black piping. Of the 350 ‘Millions’ produced in December 1960, 30 were built with LHD and exported to Europe and North America. The 320 RHDs were distributed to all BMC dealers in the UK so that each showroom from Jersey to Shetland had a Million on display for the official launch on 4 January 1961. The actual millionth car was built on 22 December 1960". from here. The Corgi Classics model (D702/4) of 797 CUY was one of their blobby 1990s castings which looked wrong - https://www.chezbois.com/corgi/modern_corgi/Model_29891.htm . There was also a cheap and nasty smaller scale Corgi Cameo in lilac with different plates (and a split windscreen!!) - http://morrisminormodels.co.uk/pictures/CameoLilacFina.jpg. The much improved Vanguards Million also had different plates - 1 MIL - https://www.chezbois.com/non_corgi/vanguards/Model_32552.htm . If this is a model, Minichamps (1:18) and Sun Star (1:12) both did very precise Lilac Millions, although haven't been able to confirm 797 CUY plates for either. |
