1941-47 Art Deco truck. The bumper indicates a 1946-47 medium-duty 1½-ton / heavy-duty 2-ton truck. Unlike the pre-war models, there was no specific name for the "huge" versions: maybe we could call this truck family 'Art Deco', when the model is unknown, even if that's just a later fan nickname? |

Most of the heavy duty Chevrolets of this era already on this site are just listed as "Chevrolet." Wikipedia lumps the heavy duty trucks in as "AK series," though the consensus on this site seems to be that that nomenclature only applies to the light-duty pickups of this style. We probably do need to come up with some sort of model name for the purposes of categorization. |

Wikipedia is clearly wrong about the name of these trucks, as the AK code is only for the 1941 ½-ton models. 1942 trucks had a different model code (BK, BL and so on), and so did later models. The same error was also made for a while in the IMCDb, but we now try to give their accurate names to these 1941-47 trucks. Hence the problem of the 1946-47 1½-ton and 2-ton models: they have a blank name just because we don't really know how to call them, for now... |
