This option was promoted as Big Dooley in Chevrolet's literature. Here, it also has a Crew cab. This generation of 3500s used a HD chassis, meaning a GMT880 platform code. |

It's an official (nick)name: it appeared at least from 1975 onward (I didn't really search in 1973 and 1974 brochures) and was used at least until 2010:![]() (2010 brochure excerpt) 2012+ brochures (I didn't find a 2011 one for now) use apparently only DRW. |

2011 brochure still uses Big Dooley, 2012-2014 use the term Dually and 2015-current brochures use DRW(Dual Rear Wheels), like GMC (as well as Ford and Dodge/RAM) have done for decades. I'm kind of sad that Chevy did away with the little nickname. ![]() http://www.auto-brochures.com/chevrolet.html |
