http://www.classiccarcatalogue.com/VAUXHALL%201934.html Big Six Saloon. Probably a Model BY, it's not a long wheelbase, and I'm guessing that the taxi operator wouldn't want the bigger 3.2 litre Bedford engine. Three chrome strips on bonnet sides, slightly faired in sidelights, top hung wipers, no draught ventilation at least in the front doors, radiator ornament, door configuration and you'll have to take my word that they look like Vauxhall wheels without the hubcaps. The whole car is in very poor condition, and carrying a taxi plate! Just shows what a state things were in after WWII. Link to "www.justcollecting.com" The only back view I can find, but it shows the rather odd central back light, and the fact that there was an opening boot, however small. -- Last edit: 2016-08-18 10:45:56 |

Not Eilean Donan. I think it's on Mull or nearby, but don't know Mull well enough to pin down further. |

looks Duart Castle-ish: Link to "www.google.de" |

Not Duart which is too big and away from trees. Moy Castle a strong candidate - http://www.isle-of-mull.net/attractions/history/castles/moy-castle/ - it looks similar and has a later role in the film as a cursed ruin. I didn't connect it until seeing the link pictures as the script implies it is lived in at this point, but as shown here it could actually be a ruin. A couple of later captures:![]() ![]() |

It is Moy Castle as identified in "I Know Where I'm Going Revisited" 1994 Mark Cousin's documentary about the filming in 1944. The twp 'later captures' are used in the documentary to tie them to a later colour photograph of Moy Castle itself.![]() |
