My mistake... It's a 1959 model of course. Except for the different badges (which are missing in this picture) were there any visible differences between the US Fords and Canadian Meteors? And weren't Canadian export cars rather Fords (I think the Meteor models were only for the Canadian market)? |

The only thing I see that they add fender mounted mirrors. |

The Meteor had a slightly different grille in the front. The Aussie 1961 Ford was like the 1959 Canadian Meteor but the '59 was like the same year's Ford. |

"Ray Pritchard’s 1959 Ford CY31" http://www.darrenknightgallery.com/artists/murray-cammick/flash-cars/ It's a Custom 300 by the missing trim on the rear and the Ford badge instead of the 500 trunk opening. The Australian brochure only shows four-doors: http://oldcarbrochures.org/Australia-2/Ford/1959-Ford-Brochure The US brochure calls the four-door sedan 'Fordor Sedan': Link to "oldcarbrochures.org" -- Last edit: 2015-08-05 01:53:51 |

This car is probably NZ new and not Australian. NZ American Fords were sourced direct from the US and assembled in NZ. I am not sure just what this model was sold as here. From 1960 they were Fairlanes but I think the 1959s were sold as Customs, without the 300. With the exception of the left hand drive 1961 Galaxie almost all of the cars in these pics are NZ new - http://www.darrenknightgallery.com/artists/murray-cammick/flash-cars/ Note the American cars are all four door pillared sedans. These were taken in the 1970s when imports of second hand American cars was very restricted. -- Last edit: 2015-08-05 10:43:07 |

Not built in Australia but assembled in NZ from US components. |
