Since the photo is nice and clear, maybe could we ID, well, the woodie? |

My thought/search process: - With the spare on the rear, the woody'll probably be a Ford product. Most GM woodies except for Chevrolet tended towards sidemounts and I think Mopar hid them under the cargo floor. - For Ford, the two-piece rear window means no earlier than 1940. - So, my initial analysis was 1940-1946 Ford or Mercury - But Fords never had the license plate mounted that high, and they had one-piece bumpers whereas this looks like a two-piece - The single high mounted taillight, bumper, and rear spare could be Chevrolet or Oldsmobile (1941 Chevy pictured): Link to "i276.photobucket.com" - But even that doesn't put the license plate high enough, and the rear window isn't narrow enough - Wait, those characteristics also match Hudson? I didn't even know they made woodies. O.O - And the taillight/license plate is finally high enough So now I'm entertaining the possibility this is a very rare Hudson woody. Hudson built their last woodies in 1942. 1941 pictured: https://www.flickr.com/photos/carphotosbyrichard/3454649223/sizes/l I would value second opinions and/or independent validations. -- Last edit: 2015-06-30 20:42:10 |

Note also behind the police bike is a not-so-common pre war Mercury. |

No opposition to Tim's identification of the woody as a Hudson? |

It looks like the back of a '46 Ford which I owned about 55 years ago. |
