New entry now I've got better quality source. Very background but it looks unusual and is onscreen for a fair time, although static so no better view possible. Looks coachbuilt for transporting big things or a recovery vehicle?? Shiny Bedford-ish grille??

If impossible, I'll ditch the page.

I hardly dare to suggest this, but........

Just in case these help:

Possible sleeper/extended cab, split windscreen, single rear axle but double-wheeled, big shiny crash bumper and a fair bit of other chrome, a smart livery ....

That was my first thought too, there are definite similarities

http://www.bbc.co.uk/ahistoryoftheworld/objects/23HAfugkQd-yWNRSby0XfA

but it could also be just a flashy cab on any chassis built by one of the many bodybuilders . The rear body does seem quite elaborate .

Two votes secures it. Even if it's wrong in the end, it's now lodged somewhere so it can be shot at. And we have a new make.

By chance I look to have found the same or similar truck pictured on the M1 in 1966, in a University of East Anglia Film Archive video.

Not a crew cab but it appears to have strorage lockers behind the cab. Company name not legible but registration something like... XWE545 or XME545?

Flashy stylised body with platform/drop-sided body sides for most of the load bed.

XWE = Sheffield, 1956; XME = Middlesex Dec 51 to July 52 "allocated in blocks".

XMA?

Cheshire?

Rolls-Royce Group transport fleet?

Foden? ERF?

"Rolls Royce Limited" Just what I was thinking, from the company name on the side.

Nothing to prove its Rowe Hillmaster, no similar Rowe badge on the front.

Vehicle bodywork probably by Jennings Sandbach, Cheshire both by the cab appearance and windscreen design also their connections with Rowe Hillmaster, ERF and Foden.
