There's a few listed as 'Shifter': /vehicles.php?make=Subaru&model=Shifter&modelMatch=1&modelInclModel=on I think 284 (as here) might be correct for the later ones? |

The registration details say it's a 284. |

1979/80 and 1984/85 brochures says Subaru MV:![]() ![]() 1980/81 brochure says Shifter: ![]() Another reference to Shifter here: Link to "archive.commercialmotor.com" (picture in the first page of the scanned article). I wonder if Shifter was a special edition? They seem to have a special colour scheme, decals and fancier wheels. Most of the references to 284 on Google seem to come from people checking DVLA records. One of their random descriptors? -- Last edit: 2015-03-29 20:00:42 |

According to Glass's mid-80s editions, Shifter was a front-wheel drive variant (1781cc) imported from Sept 81 to Feb 82 only - presumably dropped so quickly for minimal sales. The 4wd was M.V. and first arrived Oct 78 (1595cc), got 1781cc in April 81 and a revamp (new front styling, bigger load platform) in June 82. My Glass's run out mid-85, so can't continue the story further. |
